Compliance Matters was started back in 1994 by David Beaumont.

David previously worked within the Trading Standards Service. During that time he realised that there was very little help available to businesses that were looking for advice or assistance on compliance matters. Spotting a hole in the market he took the unusual step of resigning from local government and setting up Compliance Matters to provide compliance training and assistance to agents.

Back in those days agents had nothing like the amount of legislation to comply with as they do now.  The focus then was on the Property Misdescriptions Act.  Things have changed somewhat since then. PMA has now been repealed & replaced by the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations & a host of legislation affecting agents has been introduced in recent years.

Being invited to work with the National Association of Estate Agents & run their Trading Standards Compliance Hotline in 1995 was really the start of the development of the range of services we currently offer.

Due to David’s unusual & unique experience of having worked for trading standards and then working with estate agents and letting agents it places him in the perfect position to provide expert and reliable advice and assistance to his clients.

Gillian Mills joined Compliance Matters in 2013 as Head of Training and Development to expand the expertise within the business & broaden the training boundaries. Gill started her career in Estate Agency in 1989 & as a Branch Manager won many awards for outstanding performance, profitability, compliance & customer service.  Her obvious expertise was noted and so for 10 years she passed on her skills to others; ultimately becoming the Head of Training and Development for Reeds Rains.

Gillian’s in depth of knowledge across the industry from front line delivery to legislative compliance and national projects places her in an excellent position to provide advice, training and solutions to property professionals.

We are now a leading compliance consultancy specifically aimed at property professionals. Our growth and success has been based on 3 things –
