New Energy Performance Advertising Requirements

From 9 January 2013 new requirements concerning the provision of EPC information came into force.

This change is the latest of a long line of changes the government has made to the obligation on property sellers, landlords and agents, concerning Energy Performance Certificates and advertising.

Whilst there were no changes to the basic requirements to obtain and have available energy performance certificates the requirement to show the front page of the EPC on property particulars, etc, ceased to apply.

Agents must now show the energy performance rating letter for the property on ALL advertising, regardless of where it appears or what the advertisement contains.

Additional requirements apply to certain methods of advertising and in those cases the energy rating graph taken from the front page of the EPC must be displayed.
